Millions of African girls never complete their education. Early marriage, poverty, conflict, and gender-based violence drive them out of school. Without education, women struggle to understand their rights, access legal systems, participate in decision-making, or leverage technology for empowerment.
In Ethiopia, Ghana, and Nigeria, the barriers are steep. Over 10 million girls are out of school in Nigeria alone, with the majority in northern states. Conflict in Ethiopia and Northeast Nigeria has disrupted education for hundreds of thousands. Girls who do attend school face inadequate STEM opportunities, limited digital literacy, and school-related gender-based violence. Secondary school completion rates for girls lag significantly behind boys.
