Gina Amedeka
Gina Amedeka is a global policy implementation and governance specialist, gender equality advocate, and founder of Almah Africa, an organization dedicated to advancing gender justice and expanding opportunities for girls and young women across Africa. Through her leadership, Almah Africa has conducted advocacy initiatives in six African countries, working with policymakers, civil society organizations, and community leaders to address gender-based violence, strengthen protection systems, and promote girls’ education.
Gina’s work focuses on strengthening policy implementation, institutional systems, and social protection frameworks that improve outcomes for women and vulnerable populations. Her research and professional interests span gender justice, peace and security, housing, and education, with a focus on how governance systems and public institutions translate policy commitments into real outcomes for communities. She is a Mandela Washington Fellowship alumna and has contributed to international policy dialogues on gender equality, governance reform, and institutional development across Africa and the United States.

She currently serves on several advisory and governance bodies. She is a Board Member of the Center for Women in Development and Public Policy (CEWODEPP), a nonprofit organization advancing gender equity and leadership in public policy. She previously served as a Youth Sounding Board Member for United Nations Development Programme Ghana, where she contributed youth perspectives to development programming and policy engagement. She also serves as an Advisory Review Committee member for the VCU Police Review Board, supporting community oversight and accountability in campus policing.
Gina is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy and Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University, where her research examines the implementation of gender-based violence policies and the effectiveness of institutional responses to violence against women. Her work bridges research, policy, and practice, with a focus on translating policy commitments into measurable institutional change.
Originally from Ghana and now based in the United States, Gina continues to work at the intersection of global policy implementation, governance reform, and gender justice. Through Almah Africa, she is committed to strengthening systems that ensure women and girls across Africa can live free from violence and access the opportunities they deserve.
